Autocar reports that the engineers behind the next-generation Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe are sparing no effort, making it the inaugural vehicle to leverage the state-of-the-art AMG.EA architecture. This cutting-edge platform is expected to elevate performance to unprecedented levels.

Not only does the AMG.EA architecture promises a sleek, aerodynamic design, but it also serves as the foundation for the brand’s next-gen powertrain technology. Among the highlights of this technology is the integration of advanced axial flux in-hub motors, a collaborative effort with Yasa, a British company owned by Mercedes-Benz. These disc-shaped motors, weighing a mere 24kg each, collectively generate a staggering 746kW and 1356Nm of torque, providing unmatched torque vectoring within the segment.

The placement of these lightweight yet powerful motors on the outer edges of the front and rear axles, within the wheel, offers substantial packaging advantages, resulting in more interior space for occupants and luggage.
